Introduction & Background

Hi! First of all, thank you for joining us. Can you tell our readers a little about yourself and how you started your journey as a webtoon creator in Honeytoon?

SF: Hi! I’ve always loved movies and cartoons. I’ve always wanted to know who creates the stories that captivate me so much. I wanted so badly to become that person. So I followed my dream, worked hard, and never lost sight of my goal. I wanted to become the author and director of my own stories. It’s amazing how my dream and destiny brought me to this incredible world. It turned out to be the best way to bring joy to people who love stories just as much as I do: the world of webtoons.

Do you remember your first episode and your first title? What difficulties did you face at the beginning?

SF: I remember the episode, and I remember the emotions it gave me. Back then, I even thought, “If I write about my secret desires now, are they going to send me to a psychologist after this?”

What inspired you to create adult webtoons, and why did you choose this genre specifically?

SF: I’m inspired by discovering something new about myself that I never even knew existed. When that “something new” turned out to be webtoons, I felt like I had found the right place for myself. It’s also a chance to explore the parts of my soul I’ve never been to before.

Creative Process

Can you walk us through your typical creative process? How do you come up with new ideas and develop them into a full series?

SF: My creative process depends entirely on emotion. When you see, feel, or imagine something incredibly emotional, and you manage to put that same emotion into the story, you hope the reader will feel it too.

How long does it usually take you to complete one episode? And what tools and software do you use in your workflow?

SF: If it weren’t for deadlines, a finished episode would probably never come out. How long it takes depends on the complexity of the locations, the story, and the poses. Most of the time, it takes two or three days. I mostly use Pinterest and my personal Figma board, where I collect images and artwork that catch my attention. What I look for most is honest, powerful emotion in a character or something meaningful that the artist has put into the drawing.

Tell us about character building. Where do you start, how do you shape them, and what is the final point in character building for you?

SF: I usually build my characters around people I know or around someone whose skin I’d like to get under and live their life for a while. It turns out that last sentence sounds creepy)

How do you build tension and chemistry between characters? Do you plan it in advance or does it develop naturally while drawing?

SF: I believe that characters who have chemistry and tension between them should be missing something. They should desperately want it. Then another character comes along and fills that vacuum. I think love and desire are about filling out that vacuum in each other.

What is the most challenging part of creating an adult webtoon for you?

SF: The hardest part for me is taking an emotional story and putting it on the page without losing a single drop of the power it had in my head.

How do you stay motivated during long series, especially when deadlines are tight?

SF: Who told you I’m always motivated? In creative work, it’s challenging to keep burning without burning out. But when you write a great dialogue, come up with a joke that doesn’t ruin the tension, or imagine a panel that sparks your imagination, it stops being about motivation. You just want people to read the story as soon as possible and feel what you felt while writing it.

The most popular works

I don’t even know which title to start the discussion with, because they’re all so fascinating. But actually my favourite is Bet Me Hard. Where did the idea of a billiards competition between the main characters come from?

SF: The idea for the story came from our incredible producer. When it reached me and the characters started taking shape, I immediately fell in love with them. I love writing stories where the main characters hate each other so much that the tension between them is almost orgasmic.

The series has a lot of tension and emotional chemistry. Which scene from Bet Me Hard was the most challenging or your personal favorite to write?

SF: The hardest scene for me is always the first meeting between the main characters. I always want it to be obvious from the very beginning that they’re meant for each other, even if they don’t know it yet.

My favorite scene to write was the sex scene with Rachel on the hood of the car. My favorite moment is when she lists all the different kinds of sex she’s had and then says, “And it’s not for the money. It’s because I like it.”

Let’s continue with College Stepmom. What inspired the premise of College Stepmom? Was there a particular dynamic you wanted to explore?

SF: Right now we’re talking about the webtoons from the beginning of my career. Back then, the ideas came from our producers, and I hope I put a part of myself into them that turned those ideas into stories and made them better.

College movies were a big part of what I grew up with. In this webtoon, I wanted to explore how far a stepmother’s care could go, how strong a guy’s desire to become popular can be, and the crazy things he’s willing to do just to fit in at college.

The women in your stories, particularly in Bet Me Hard and College Stepmom, have become fan favorites. How do you develop such compelling female protagonists?

SF: I really like the idea that we’re all shaped by our childhood. Our childhood experiences and fears are our strongest emotions.

For example, Luna grew up in a poor family. They lived almost in a basement, and that became the key to understanding her character. She’s terrified of losing her rooftop apartment. But deep down, she just wants to be with someone who makes her feel like she’s on top of the world.

As for Michelle, I imagined that she didn’t get enough attention as a child. She felt unwanted. She finally got that attention where she least expected it.

Sweet Revenge has a very unique revenge theme. Where did the idea for this story come from?

SF: The idea started with one simple thought: “I wish I could go back to the past knowing and being able to do everything I know and can do now.” The topic of bullying also bothered me a lot. There’s even a line in the webtoon: “No one should ever feel like this at school.” I truly believe that.

I decided to add another powerful emotion to the story: the desire for revenge. But fortunately, revenge, just like bullying, is a destructive emotion that doesn’t bring the hero any happiness.

As our producer once said, “It’s The Count of Monte Cristo set in school.” What’s funny is that I wasn’t thinking about that at all while developing the story.

Your works like College Stepmom, Sweet Revenge, Big Hole Protocole, Taste of Passion, Bet Me Hard, and Climb Me Hard are very popular. Which of these series is the most personal to you and why?

SF: Without a second of hesitation, Taste of Passion.

Ben, the main character, is the kind of person I’d like to become one day. He makes mistakes. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He’s funny and honest with himself. He’s a good person. He just got stuck in a routine and doesn’t know how to enjoy life anymore. And he loves cooking! I absolutely love that.

Give It a Taste!

Climb Me Hard and Bet Me Hard have quite bold premises. How do you balance spicy content with actual storytelling and character development?

SF: It’s all about chemistry! Whether it’s hard balls on a pool table or hard rocks on a climbing wall, physical tension is just an extension of emotional tension.

Future & General Questions

Do you have any upcoming projects or new series that you can tease for us?

SF: Of course! I really love that our team is always working on something new. We never want to leave our readers without new stories, so we put all our energy and our hearts into them.

Right now, I’m writing a story about a wedding that goes completely wrong. To be honest, that could describe almost any wedding. But this one will be especially hot and unpredictable.

I’m also really looking forward to the release of a webtoon about a circus. It’s about a guy who gets caught up in a chain of events in what I think is a very sexy and seductive setting.

And of course, we’ll do our best to surprise you with new, unusual settings and characters who feel close to our hearts.

What advice would you give to aspiring webtoon creators who want to enter the adult genre?

SF: Be honest with yourself, work hard, and love your readers.

Finally, what do you want your readers to feel after finishing one of your series?

SF: That’s a great question! I hope… I truly hope that after finishing one of my stories, you’ll put your phone down or look away from the screen for a moment, think about what you’ve just read, and feel just a little happier.
